Coffin of Akhenaten
Akhenaten's coffin (most famously associated with the controversial KV55 tomb in the Valley of the Kings) is a unique anthropoid (human-shaped) coffin. Originally built for a female royal (likely Queen Kiya or Tiye) and later altered for the king, it was deliberately mutilated and is heavily modified with Amarna-period artistic features.
Pharaonic collections emphasize kingship, ritual practice, and funerary beliefs across multiple dynasties.
Pharaonic objects preserve key evidence for royal ideology, funerary theology, and temple-centered ritual systems. Their inscriptions and iconography remain primary sources for reconstructing ancient Egyptian governance and belief.
